The precursor to Strategic Business Communications, Inc (SBC) was started in 1977 by Dennis Holmes and Steve McKee. It was called Holmes/McKee Associates (HMA). HMA was primarily a training company that relied heavily on the print and video media to present its training. HMA grew to about 60 full-time employees, with complete instructional design, writing, video, and graphic design departments. HMA had clients from several different industries, but its heaviest concentration was in the automotive industry where it did work for all the major Japanese importers and a few of the Korean importers. HMA did work for all of the major Divisions of these companies - Sales, Service, and Parts.
In 1987, Mr. Holmes left HMA and Steve McKee became President and sole shareholder of HMA. With Mr. Holmes gone - and due to the desire to significantly change the direction of the company - Steve renamed the company Strategic Business Communications. SBC then began its focus on sales management, sales, and marketing training. The primary vehicles for this training are research, seminars, and consulting.
